Innovation / Startup/ Technology Mentorship
- One scholar Dr. Amir Bashir Wani from GE Lab got Top position in E YUVA. He registered as Incubatee for incubation of the Innovative idea “Vertical Farming of Saffron under Controlled Conditions for Entrepreneurship Development in Youth” under E YUVA Scheme (BIRAC) under the mentorship of Dr. Amjad M. Husaini
- Tabish Jaan (MSc student) got Innovation grant of Rs 1 lakh from JK DST for micropropagation of Apple rootstock MM106;
- Komaljeet Gill (PhD student) got Innovation grant of Rs 50,000 from JK DST foe developing saffron based concoction for children;
- Tabish Jaan (MSc student) got Innovation grant of Rs 20,000 from JK DST foe developing organic dye from saffron tepals;
Promotion & Creation Of Opportunities For Students’ Exposure:
- Recommended Ms. Humaira Ashraf for Summer Research Fellowship Program 2014 sponsored by National Academies, and she was selected for working under TR Sharma, Principal Scientist, National Research Centre for Plant Biotechnology, New Delhi (regrettably she did not join due to personal reasons!)
- Sponsored MSc students of 2013 batch (Aafreen Sakina, Muntazir Mushtaq, Shazia Mukhtar) to attend 2-day National Conference entitled “Integration of Genomics and Phenomics in Crop Improvement” (7-8 Aug, 2014) at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.
- Recommended Ms. Neha Bharti for Science Acadamies’ Summer Research Fellowship 2016 sponsored by National Academies (IASc- INSA-NASI), and she was selected for working under Prof Indranil Das Gupta, Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Delhi (South Campus) (regrettably she did not join due to personal reasons!)
- Aadil Gani (MSc student) got selected for ICAR-SRF and doctoral research at Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi
- Syed Anam ul Haq (PhD student) got selected for CSIR-SRF for his PhD research on saffron.
- Amir B. Wani got Best poster award (3rd) for poster entitled “Molecular characterization of resistant genotypes of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) for BCMV” in National workshop on Advances in Cell and Molecular Biology at Govt. college for women M. A. Road Srinagar.
- Amir B. Wani got Best oral presentation in conference “Recent Advances in Agricultural Technology” at New Delhi on, “Molecular studies in relation to Bean Common Mosaic Virus in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) germplasm of Kashmir”
- Dr. Amir B. Wani awarded with Achiever of the Year 2022 award for Bagging E-Yuva fellowship.
- Anam, Tabish, Zarak (Poster presentation) Salsbeel and Aadil (Oral presentation), from GE & SB Lab received first prize in respective sessions of National Conference on Future of Agriculture & Agriculture for Future
- Ms. Tanzeel bashir awarded with Achiever of the Year 2022 award for Research Assistantship at Connecticut Agricultural experiment Station (CAES), New Heaven, USA

Training In India
- Arranged for participation of Amir Bashir Wani and Samiullah Naik in a two-day workshop “Basic techniques of Bioinformatics and drug designing” organized by SP College, Cluster University, Srinagar (2-3 May, 2017)
- Amir B. Wani was deputed to participate in Ten-days Skill development training “In-Vitro Production of Saffron Cormlets” for Saffron Technology dissemination and Entrepreneurship development cum capacity building from 12 to 21st January 2020.
- Aamir B. Wani participated and presented 4 posters in International conference on Saffron and seed Spices-Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Development at SKUAST-K, Srinagar, J&K

- Ms. Tanzeel Bashir was deputed from GE & SB Lab to Connecticut Agricultural experiment Station (CAES), New Heaven, USA for a period of six months (11 May, 2023 to 22 Sept, 2023) to work on Nano phosphorus management
- Ms. Komaljeet Gill was deputed to participate in 10 Days Training programme on “CRISPR- based Plant Genome Editing Tools and Techniques” from 28th August to 8th September, 2023
